Prabhag No 3D will be the most hotly contested in the upcoming Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) elections as the highest 20 candidates will lock horns in this Prabhag. As the civic election is being conducted after a gap of about nine years, the enthusiasm among candidates, supporters and workers is at its peak. Also, every candidate is campaigning full-fledgedly. Prabhag No 3, which falls under the Ashi Nagar Zone (Zone 9), consists of areas like Wanjara Industrial Area, Sangharsh Nagar, Mehbubpura, Sharda Ispat Company, Hameed Nagar, Vandevi Nagar, Dhammanand Nagar, Ambedkar Nagar, Vinoba Bhave Nagar, Rajiv Gandhi Nagar, Garib Nawaz Nagar, Pravesh Nagar, Shivshakti Nagar, Sanjeevani Colony, Yashodhara Nagar, Vitabhatti, Ma Bamlaiwari Nagar, Rani Durgavati Nagar, Habib Nagar, Wanjari Area, and Siddharth Nagar. Contestants from all major parties, including BJP, Congress, BSP, NCP (Sharad Pawar), Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS), Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), and NCP (Ajit Pawar) are contesting from Prabhag No 3D. Along with major parties, many small parties and Independents also are vying for the seat. Due to highest number of contestants in the Prabhag, distribution of votes will also be neck-n-neck and the victory margin may be less or very less in this seat. BJP’s Nasimbano Khan won the 2017 civic election from this ward. BJP candidate defeated independent candidate Surekha Talwekar by just 402 votes.

In a contrast, Prabhag No 12B and Prabhag No 25B will witness easy fight as both Prabhags have the lowest number of candidates enrolled for the upcoming election. In both wards, the contest will be between BJP and Congress candidates.

In previous election, Prabhag No 12B was won by former Mayor Maya Iwnate. Iwnate defeated Roshani Atram of Congress by 237 votes. This time also, Iwnate got ticket from the same ward. At Prabhag No 25B, Purushottam Hajare of Congress won the previous battle in 2017. He defeated Devendra Mehar of BJP by 893 votes. This year, the contest will be once again between BJP and Congress.
