GOTEGAON, Jan 4 ‘SEWA Saptah’ and culturalsports festival conducted by Sahyog Krida Mandal Gotegaon was held recently on the occasion of the birth anniversary of the late Maninagendra Singh Patel (Monu Bhaiya), proved to be a memorable event in the region. This event showcased a wonderful blend of social service, sports, culture, and public participation.
 
The nine-day event commenced on December 25 with a senior citizen felicitation ceremony, where Presidents and representatives of all communities were honored. The service week included a blood donation camp, a threeday free health check-up and treatment camp, a youth awareness programme, Veer Bal Diwas (Children’s Day), ‘Pink Day’ dedicated to women’s empowerment, felicitation of senior citizens, honoring of martyrs’ families, and various other social service activities.
 
Various sports events were successfully organised, including boys’ and girls’ Kabaddi, divisional and district level volleyball, Chaupad, athletics, a 5-kilometer race, and a marathon. In the second phase, the All India Men’s Kabaddi competition saw the participation of 28 teams from across the country, with Sai Sonipat emerging as the winner and Jaipur Pink Panthers as the runner-up. In the divisional Kabaddi competition, among 34 teams, Seoni was the winner and Sahyog Krida Mandal Gotegaon was the runner-up.
 
In this grand event with prize money approximately Rs 35 lakh, players were awarded incentive money and special prizes. During the event, Prahlad Singh Patel, Minister of Panchayat, Rural Development and Labor, Dharmendra Singh Lodhi, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Religious Trusts (Independent Charge), Member of Parliament Faggan Singh Kulaste, former Minister of State Jalam Singh Patel (Munna Bhaiya), MLAs, former MLAs, public representatives, and administrative officers were present.
 
At the closing ceremony, MP Kulaste announced a grant of Rs 15 lakh for the construction of a volleyball hostel at Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Sports Stadium, and the local MLA announced Rs 20 lakh for the expansion of building/ housing facilities. The entire event, held under the blessings of the revered Bhaiyaji, the founding member of Sahyog Krida Mandal, and with the collective cooperation of the organizing committee, youth, players, volunteers, and citizens.
 
Engineer Sardar Singh Patel, Secretary of the Maninagendra Singh Patel Foundation proposed vote of thanks lastly. Umeshankar Sahu, Chairman, SKMG Standing Committee, and Ajit Kharya, Tribhuvan Sahu, and Praval Singh Patel, Chairmen of all the organizing committee subcommittees, have expressed their gratitude to all the contributors, donors, players.
