In Prabhag 30, surprisingly BJP changed the last year’s winning candidates completely except Snehal Bihare. But Bihare has been fielded on Shiv Sena (Shinde) ticket as per the adjustment finalised by BJP and Sena both. This time BJP fielded Ajay Khalatkar who is a hard worker and has been waiting to get ticket since long. His father Sambhajirao Khalatkar served BJP as Nagpur District President. Khalatkar family is a BJP loyalist, his cousin Avinash is working to strengthen the party in the district. Sanjay Mahakalkar of Congress is in touch with the people which would help him in a way. Secondly, Deepak Kapse who had left party joined again will prove as a great force. Congress did not face rebellion here as City President Vikas Thakre finalised the candidates after deliberating with Abhijeet Wanjari and Girish Pandav. It remains to be seen whether Congress will be able to win maximum seats as it is being led by Sanjay Mahakalkar and a gentlman face of Girish Pandav or BJP comes up with new strategy under Dayashankar Tiwari and MLA Mohan Mate remains to be seen on January 15, 2026.
BJP wave in 2017
Despite the strong wave of BJP all over Nagpur, Congress had putup a tough fight. BJP could earn marginal lead while defeating its nearest Congress candidate. Sanjay Mahakalkar of Congress could beat the wave and he won in 30 D defeating BJP’s Ajay Buggewar by a solid margin. This time Mahakalkar is leading Congress in this Prabhag. Its senior and strong candidate Deepak Kapse who could not contest polls as he got injured will guide the Congress panel.

Unresolved civic issues
Some problems those were being faced by people are being resolved now probably because elections are round the corner. The Dattatray Garden was given facelift and it was closed for almost a year. Some time ago, the work was completed and the garden was opened for the public. The vacant land of firebrigade station was lying for several years where people used to dump the garbage. Now the administration is constructing a compound wall there. But in the inside lanes people are facing issues of smaller works. For example, in a disorganised manner the sewage line is being opened for the maintenance. Such works have narrowed the respective lanes. This will cause trouble, especially, during rush hours.
Residents have to knock the doors of NMC frequently due to larger civic issues like encroachment, traffic congestion. Some people raised an issue of almost non-functional NMC Health Clinic.
A resident said that the leaders announced that the Urban Healthcare Centres run by NMC would be improved but nothing has happened.
