KARELI :
THE carcass of a leopard was
found in the Gwarikala beat of
the Kareli forest range in
Narsinghpur district. A clutch
wire was found wrapped
around the body of the leopard, which was approximately
two years old, raising several
questions about the cause of
its death. The incident has
caused a stir in the Forest
Department. The Sub Divisional Officer (SDO) reported the discovery of the leopard’s
carcass in the Gwarikala beat
area. Following this, Forest Department officials and staff,
including Divisional Forest
Officer (DFO) Kalpana Tiwari,
reached the spot.
Preliminary investigations
revealed a clutch wire entangled around the leopard’s body.
This has led to suspicions that
the leopard may have died after
getting caught in a trap or due
to some illegal activity.
Considering the seriousness
of the matter, the Forest
Department has called in a
dog squad and a team of expert
doctors to the site. The team
will examine the carcass to
determine the actual cause of
the leopard’s death.
Meanwhile when media personnel who arrived at the scene
tried to film the incident, SDO,
Sunil Verma became agitated.
He asked the media personnel, who were standing 200
meters away, to leave the area.
DFO, Kalpana Tiwari stated that she received information about the leopard's
death from the SDO, after
which she herself reached the
spot. She confirmed that a
clutch wire was found on the
body and that a thorough
investigation is being conducted into the entire matter.
The cause of the leopard’s
death will only become clear
after the investigation. If any
negligence on the part of any
individual or departmental
staff is found in this case, strict
action will be taken against
the culprits. Currently, the
Forest Department has
increased surveillance in the
area, and the investigation is
ongoing.
