Staff Reporter :
THE District Election Office of
Jabalpur has intensified its
efforts under the Special
Intensive Revision (SIR) 2026 to
ensure universal voter registration among eligible youth.
Following a high-level meeting
chaired by Joint Collector and
Deputy District Election Officer,
Jyoti Paraste at the Collectorate
on Tuesday, it was announced
that all higher education institutions in the district will host
special registration camps on
January 9 and 10.
The administration’s primary
objective is the inclusion of all
individuals who reached the
qualifying age of 18 by January
1, 2026, but were omitted from
the draft electoral roll published
last December.
Deputy District Election
Officer, Paraste emphasised the
use of digital platforms, instructing principals to utilise the ECI
Net app and portal for the efficient processing of Form-6
applications.
To ensure no student is overlooked, District SVEEP
Coordinator Dr Pramod
Shrivastava presented a systematic internal audit plan. Under
this strategy, class teachers are required to identify unregistered students and compile
class-wise lists to facilitate targeted enrollment during the
two-day intensive drive.
The meeting saw a comprehensive turnout, including
heads of government, private
and technical institutions such
as Jabalpur Engineering
College. The district administration has reiterated that the
window for claims and objections remains open till January
22, 2026, as part of a broader
commitment to maintaining
an accurate and inclusive democratic registry.
