A LARGE number of people
thronged Jabalpur Municipal
Corporation’s (JMC) headquarters and all 16 divisional offices
during the Jan Sunvai, on
Tuesday. Total of 129 cases
were received during the Jan
Sunvai and the majority were
addressed immediately.
Mayor Jagat Bahadur Singh
personally led the hearing at the
JMC headquarters, while
Municipal Commissioner
Ramprakash Ahirwar, Municipal
Corporation Chairperson Rinku
Vij, Mayor-in-Council members,
Zone Chairpersons, Corporators
were present at various divisional
offices to ensure swift redressal
of complaints.
Out of the 129 complaints
received, 27 were registered at the
headquarters and 102 at the divisional offices. Seventeen complaints were related to water supply. Of these, only seven concerned dirty water. Four such
complaints were resolved immediately, while work on the
remaining three will begin from
Wednesday, including replacement of old pipelines. Water samples from the affected areas have
been sent for testing.
Importantly, officials clarified
that no complaint was received
regarding mixing of drain water
in the drinking water supply.
The Mayor said the city’s water
supply system is functioning
properly and the water being
supplied is fit for drinking. Mayor
Singh added that the Municipal
Corporation has sufficient
resources and funds to ensure
uninterrupted and clean
water supply to citizens. The
Mayor also informed that similar water supply-focused
Jansunwai will be organised
in the future and any complaint
received will be addressed without delay.
A main highlight of the day
was the special emphasis on
water-related complaints,
keeping in mind the ensuing
summer season. Issues such as
pipeline leakages, new connections and improvement in water
supply were examined on the
spot by technical teams and
immediate corrective measures
were initiated.
