MAHARASHTRA, led by Nagpur’s Riya Deepak Baniya, defended their title defeating hosts Madhya Pradesh by one run in thrilling final of the Under-19 girls that was part of 69th National Schools Games Championship.
Batting first, Maharashtra scored 150-5 in 20 overs and then bundled out MP for 149 in 19.4 overs in the summit clash that was played at Madhavrao Scindia ground in Shivpuri (MP) on Tuesday. As many as 24 teams participated in the event.
Skipper Riya is class XII student of LAD College while Arya Manoj Parve and Mansi Pradeep Borikar were other Nagpur players in the State squad.
Prior to the tournament, the team members attended a week-long camp in Wardha.
