SWIMMERS of Shark Aquatic Sporting Association (SASA) excelled winning gold, silver and bronze medals in the All India Sea Swimming Competition that was held at Porbandar. The competition was organised by Shri Ram Swimming Club, Porbandar and included a triathlon swimming event.
In the girls Under-14 triathlon that included 750m swimming, 20 kilometres cycling and 10km running, Bhavi Rajgire secured first place winning a cash prize of Rs 5,000 along with a trophy and certificate.
In the girls above-14 category, Lavanya Raut won a silver. In men above 50 years, Dr Bapu Rambhau Shelkar won bronze.
A host of SASA swimmers displayed excellent determination and endurance in the sprint swimming events, bringing recognition to Nagpur.
In the All India Sea Warrior Competition, Lavanya participated in the 5 km open water swimming event and secured first place, winning a cash prize of Rs 10,000, along with a trophy and certificate.
Swimmers who completed the event within the prescribed time: Age Group 6–10 years: Rajvardhan Samarth, Purvi Devtale, Aarav Sakde, Tanisha Gayakwad, Ranvijay Harne. Age Group 10–14 years: Abhinav Gude, Shrimay Budhe, Phalguni Lanjewar, Arnavi Rehpade, Shravani Raut, Bhavi Rajgire, Krishna Chavhan. Age Group 14–30 years: Rajnandini Samarth, Yashika Lanjewar, Parth Gamep. Para swimmers: Dilip Boyar – 5 km; Manisha Purohit – 1 km.
Men Above 50 years: Rajendra Mishra, Dr Bapu Shelokar, Sanjay Batwe. All swimmers practised regularly before the competition at Ambazari Lake, Khindsi Lake, NIT Swimming Pool, Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Swimming Pool under the expert guidance of noted coach Sanjay Batwe.
