BIS celebrates Foundation Day at Raman Science Centre

The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Nagpur Branch Office, commemorated the 79th BIS Foundation Day on January 6 at the Raman Science Centre & Planetarium, in the city, through an engaging and educative programme aimed at spreading awareness about quality standards, safety, and consumer protection, especially among students and young minds. The programme began with an inaugural session wherein Hemant B Ade, Director, BIS Nagpur Branch Office, along with Shri Panda, Project Coordinator, Raman Science Centre & Planetarium, formally inaugurated the event by lighting the ceremonial lamp. The occasion was further dignified by the soulful rendition of the Manak Geet, symbolising BIS’s commitment to quality and standardisation.
 
The celebration featured a vibrant series of cultural performances, including thematic dramas and skits emphasising the significance of the ISI Mark and Hallmark, as well as dance performances highlighting themes such as Nari Shakti and patriotism, which were well received by the audience. A quiz competition based on Standards Watch 19 was also organised for Standards Club members, fostering awareness and understanding of standards among students. The winners were announced at the conclusion of the programme. As part of the Foundation Day celebrations, 10 schools and one college with active Standards Clubs participated enthusiastically by exhibiting science models developed in accordance with lesson plans provided by BIS.
