A CONTINGENT of 38 players
and officials on Wednesday left
for Patoda in Haryana to participate in the 38th Sub Junior
National Softball Championship.
The four-day event will be organised in Sanskaran University,
Patoda, District Jhajjar in
Haryana from January 9.
Chhattisgarh Softball team
consists of 16 boys and girls each
accompanied by four coaches
and two managers. Ahead of the
scheduled departure, a selection
training programme was organised in the Softball Ground of Pt
Ravishankar Shukla University
campus in Raipur from
December 21 to 29.
It was followed by a training camp for the
initially selected players and after
selection of prospective players
the final list of team members
was announced for the national championship.
Players selected to participate
in the boys’ category concists of
Rahul Ekka, Sumit Khalkho and
Vimlesh Ekka from Jashpur,
Lakshya Nishad, Surya Kadti and
Abil Michcha from Bijapur,
Shubham Sen, Pankaj Meravi and
Chandresh Kumar Korram from
Kabirdham, Lokesh Nayak and
Sumit Sabarwal from Raipur,
Aryan Patel from Durg,
Ramanand Mishra from Korba,
Rohit Rajput from Rajnandgaon,
and Komal Patil and Raju Nishad
from Bemetara. Virendra Nayak
and Gaurav Dahariya accompanied the team as coaches with
Sarang Netam is the team manager.
Similarly, players selected
in the girl’s category to represent
the state are Triveni Marpalli,
Asmita Marpalli, Anuradha
Kovasi, Rinky Hemla and Shilpa
Marpalli from Bijapur, Simran
Khalkho, Sapna Khalkho,
Aradhana Tigga and Sonia Ekka
from Jashpur, Sarita Sinha and
Kevra Nishad from Bemetara,
Sujal Meshram and Rohini Yadav
from Rajnandgaon, Aastha
Waghade from Durg; Poonam
Koparkar from Raipur and
Soumya Chandrakar from
Kawardha. Sonali Sau and Preeti
Verma are coaches for girls while
Anju Tandi is team manager.
