The mercury has been hovering close to the freezing point in some areas leading to the continuation of extreme cold conditions in the state. The lowest minimum temperature hovers around 2°C while multiple districts record below 5°C. Kalyanpur in Shahdol recorded a low of 2.7°C and Umaria at 3.9°C. A cold wave is affecting Shahdol and Umaria, while Narsinghpur is witnessing a cold day as temperatures remain below normal.

lior, Guna, Rewa, and Datia. Shallow fog was also observed in Rajgarh, Sidhi, and Nowgong. Over the last 24 hours, maximum temperatures rose slightly in districts of Narmadapuram and Rewa divisions by around 2- 3°C, but in Chambal division they remained significantly below normal by over 4°C. Minimum temperatures increased slightly in Bhopal Division by about 2.4°C, but most other districts remained cold, with temperatures below normal in Bhopal, Jabalpur, and Shahdol divisions. The chilly weather is linked to synoptic conditions over the region. A western disturbance, seen as a cyclonic circulation over Jammu, is influencing northern and central parts of the state.

In addition, strong westerly jet streams at high altitudes over North India are keeping the weather cold and dry. These systems are responsible for the persistent cold wave and foggy conditions, and no significant rainfall has been recorded in the last 24 hours. After hitting the lowest minimum of 3.8°C on Monday, the capital city of Bhopal saw clear sky with shallow fog in the early morning. At 8:30 am, the temperature was 12.6°C with humidity at 73%, while the maximum temperature in the last 24 hours was 21.8°C and the minimum 8.4°C.

The temperature in Bhopal is slightly below normal, giving the city a crisp winter feel. Winds are light, around 8-10 kmph, making mornings particularly chilly. Residents are advised to wear warm clothing, especially during early hours and evenings. The India Meteorological Department has issued advisories for people to stay safe in cold wave conditions.

Those travelling should take care during foggy conditions, keep a safe distance on roads, and avoid unnecessary travel. Cold wave precautions include wearing proper warm clothes. Farmers are advised to protect crops from moisture and frost, provide warm shelters for live stock.
