DRY weather conditions
continued across
Chhattisgarh, while cold
wave conditions were reported in isolated pockets of
State. According to the
Meteorological Centre,
Raipur, a cold wave was
observed in parts of the
Surguja and Durg divisions.
On Thursday, Raipur
recorded a maximum temperature of 27.7°C, which was
close to normal, while the
minimum temperature settled at 12.4°C, about one
degree below normal.
Humidity levels ranged
between 61 per cent in the
morning and 43 per cent in
the evening. No rainfall was
recorded anywhere in the
State during past 24 hours.
Across the State, Durg
reported the highest maximum temperature at 28.4°C,
which was around one
degree higher than normal.
Ambikapur recorded the
lowest minimum temperature of 3.5°C, indicating
intense cold conditions in
the northern region.
Jagdalpur also experienced
a sharp drop in night temperature, remaining significantly below normal.
Weather officials stated
that a western disturbance
persists over north Punjab
and nearby areas at upper
atmospheric levels. In addition, strong subtropical westerly jet stream winds are prevailing over north India,
which are contributing to the
cold conditions over
Chhattisgarh.For Friday, dry weather is likely to prevail across the State.
However, cold wave conditions may continue in isolated
pockets of north and central Chhattisgarh over the next
two days. Residents in these areas have been advised to
take necessary precautions against cold weather, especially
during night and early morning hours.
For Raipur city, haze is likely to occur on January 9.
The
maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to
remain around 28°C and 12°C respectively.
The Met Department has indicated that no significant
weather system is expected after the next two days, and
overall conditions are likely to remain stable, with cold nights
continuing in several parts of the State.
