THE suspicious death of Priya,
a student residing in the Chuna
Bhatti police circle, triggered
massive unrest on Wednesday as
her grieving family members
placed her body on the busy
Narmadapuram Road at Danish
Chauraha to demand justice. The
protest, which began around 4
pm, resulted in a half-hour-long
traffic gridlock.
The blockade was
eventually lifted following an
intervention by the Bagsewaniya
Police, who assured the kin of
swift action against the culprits.
The victim’s father, Kailash
Mehra, cited a shocking eyewitness account from a security
guard at JP Hospital. According
to the guard, the prime suspect,
Kapil alias Tushar, arrived at the
hospital on a motorcycle with
Priya seated in the middle.
He was reportedly accompanied by three other youths on two
separate bikes. The group
allegedly carried Priya inside on a stretcher; however, the
moment they sensed police
arrival, they abandoned the
body and vanished from the
hospital premises. The ‘Dial
112’ Call and Disappearance:
Investigative leads revealed
that immediately following the
incident, Kapil Tushar had
himself dialled the emergency
number ‘112’.
He informed the
dispatcher that Priya had fallen from a roof and he was rushing her to JP Hospital for treatment. If this was merely a tragic accident, why did Tushar
and his associates flee instead
of facing the police?” the victim’s family questioned. The
fact that the suspects disappeared the moment doctors
declared her dead has cast a
heavy shadow of suspicion
over their involvement.
