A MASSIVE ‘Aarakshan Bachaao,
Samvidhaan Bachaao Rally’ was
carried out under the banner of
Adivasi Bahujan Adhikar Kalyan
Sangh (ABAKS) from Civic
Centre, Marhatal on Wednesday.
The procession traversed
through Malviya Chowk,
Karamchand Chowk and Badi
Omti, before concluding at
Ghantaghar Control Room.
A large number of students,
youth and community leaders
representing SC, ST and OBC
groups actively participated in the
procession, echoing slogans such
as ‘Jai Bhim’, ‘Jai Samvidhan’, ‘Jai
Birsa’, and ‘Jai Johar’.
Led by ABAKS State President
Devesh Choudhary, the organisers submitted a four-point
memorandum addressed to the
President and Prime Minister of
India, demanding to secure SC
and ST reservations within the
Ninth Schedule of the
Constitution to prevent judicial
or administrative tampering.
They also demanded to enforce
the UGC Equality Bill 2026 across
higher educational institutions,
to revoke the freeze on the 13
per cent OBC quota in Madhya
Pradesh to implement 27 per
cent reservation, alongside conducting a nationwide caste census to align quotas with population ratios and to enforce
Scheduled Castes and
Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of
Atrocities) Act, 1989, and countering hostile narratives surrounding the legislation.
Prominent leaders, legal
experts and social activists,
including Shivnath Choudhary,
Adv Tejkumar Bhagat,
Tarun Rohitas, Sonelal Ureti
and others attended the event in
large numbers.
