CRIME Branch Unit-2 arrested fugitive criminal Sheikh Mohsin alias Baba
Tiger alias Musa at Shegaon Railway
station after a dramatic chase on
Tuesday. He was brought to Nagpur
late at night.
Police said Baba Tiger was wanted
in connection with the attempt to kill
gangster Sheikh Akram alias Bhuru
Sheikh Rahman (42) of Anand Nagar,
Sitabuldi. Earlier, police had arrested
Sheikh Sharif Sheikh Salim (36) of
Buradgalli, Telipura; Shahbaz Khan
alias Salman Billa Khan (25)
ofTaj Nagar, Mankapur; Aamir
Bashir Sheikh (35) of Jhingabai
Takli; Mohammad Sahil Altaf
Ansari (28); and Mohammad
Taufiq Sheikh Mohammad
Arif (28).
According to police, Sharif
learnt that Bhuru was staying
at Hotel Memories near
Somalwara Square and often visited
the place alone at night. He allegedly
hatched a plan with his associates to
kill him. On August 11, around 11.30
pm, Sharif allegedly rammed an SUV
(MH-40/CH-4777) into Bhuru outside
the hotel and fled. Hotel staff informed
the police and Bhuru’s family. Bhuruhas been undergoing treatment since then.
Police said a
case of attempt to murder wasregistered at Sonegaon police
station. As the accused
allegedly operated as an
organised group and had committed several offences, police
invoked the Maharashtra
Control of Organised Crime
Act (MCOCA) against them. However,
Baba Tiger had remained absconding.
POLICE FOLLOWED HIM ACROSS
CITIES: After fleeing, Baba Tiger
allegedly moved between different
cities. Police first received information that he was hiding in
Khaparkheda in Nagpur Rural.
Teams searched for him but
could not trace him. Police also
went to Akola twice. Later, they
received information that he
was in Ajmer Sharif. Before the
team could reach Ajmer, however, he had reportedly left for
Nagpur. The police alerted the
Railway Protection Force (RPF)
and searched the train, but
Baba Tiger was not found. The
Crime Branch then laid a trap
at Shegaon railway station.
Police personnel went there in
disguise and kept watch on the
platform. According to police,
Baba Tiger was spotted when
the team was checking a general coach reserved for women.
On seeing the police, he
allegedly tried to escape. The
officers chased and surrounded him from all sides before taking him into custody. He was
subsequently brought to
Nagpur for further investigation.
