In light of drought-like conditions, Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL / Mahavitaran) has established a special mechanism to address power-related grievances of farmers on a priority basis. To register urgent electricity issues, including transformer breakdowns in the district, and ensure swift action, a 24X7 helpline number 7875761000 has been made operational. Additionally, users can now report damaged or non-functional transformers with a single click via the ‘Mahavitaran Mobile App’ and the official website. Recognising this urgency, MSEDCL has activated a dedicated coordination framework. Complaints logged through the helpline will be routed directly to relevant MSEDCL officers and field staff across Nagpur district to coordinate and execute the necessary repairs immediately.

To make the process even more convenient, farmers and general electricity consumers across Nagpur district can submit reports of damaged or non-working transformers straight through the mobile application. MSEDCL serves 79,911 agricultural consumers and operates over 2,000 single-phase distribution transformers in the district, the majority of which have already been mapped with geo-location coordinates. This spatial mapping makes it far easier to pinpoint exact fault locations and log complaints accurately. To use this feature, consumers can log in using their Consumer ID or simply proceed as a Guest user.

When registering a complaint, the user must be near the affected transformer, ensure their device's location services are enabled, and grant location permissions to the app. Selecting the ‘Report Damaged Transformer’ option, filling out the basic details, and uploading a photograph of the transformer completes the submission. This information is immediately dispatched to local engineers and field technicians (Janmitras) for inspection, repair, or replacement, and once the task is resolved, an automated status update is sent to the complainant via WhatsApp. Complaints can also be filed on MSEDCL’s official website at www.mahadiscom.in, at local MSEDCL offices, or through Consumer Facilitation Centers. Consumers can also reach the 24/7 call center via toll-free numbers 18002123435, 18002333435, 1912, and 19120.
