Rs 30 crore lifeline: Katara Road to become 6-lane with street lights, inspection done
Staff Reporter :
HUZUR MLA Rameshwar
Sharma on Sunday conducted a
detailed site inspection for the
proposed six-laning of Katara
Road, a key project aimed at easing traffic congestion in the rapidly expanding Kolar-Katara belt.
Accompanied by officials from
the Public Works Department
(PWD), Bhopal Municipal
Corporation, SDM and Tehsildar,
Sharma reviewed the stretch
from Amaltas Square to Bhopal
Bypass.
The MLA announced that the
5-km long, 30-metre wide six-lane
road will be built at a cost of Rs
30 crore with modern street lighting. The PWD has been tasked
to complete the project within
14 months.
To ensure smooth execution,
Sharma directed officials to fasttrack shifting of electric poles
and laying of drinking water and
sewage networks before road
construction begins.
“Population in Katara is growing fast. Upgrading road infrastructure is the need of the hour.
This six-lane road will decongest
traffic and ensure smoother commute,” Sharma said.
Officials confirmed the road
will further extend via Rapadiya
to industrial hub Bagroda and the
CRPF campus, boosting connectivity. In a separate push,
Sharma also inspected Ward
85 and ordered a four-lane
link to connect Pebbleway and
Flower City colonies directly to
Katara and Narmadapuram
Road. The bottleneck near
Asanani School will be cleared,
with a joint inspection by SDM
Kolar and PWD scheduled for
October 13.
