AN AGGRIEVED farmer adopted an unusual form of protest at Raipur Collectorate, arriving with cattle and tethering them near the premises to draw the administration’s attention to unresolved grievances concerning land acquisition under the Bharatmala project. The protest stemmed from a dispute involving the acquisition of his land and residential property, pending compensation and an electricity meter-related problem. According to the complainant, repeated approaches to the authorities had failed to secure satisfactory redressal, leaving his family struggling to resolve the issues. Frustrated over the prolonged delay, he brought the animals to the Collectorate, hoping the unconventional demonstration would prompt officials to examine his complaints. The presence of cattle outside the administrative complex attracted attention, bringing the farmer’s grievances into public focus.

The complainant maintained that the acquisition-related dispute had remained unresolved despite his repeated representations before the authorities concerned.Besides seeking clarity over compensation for the acquired property, he demanded resolution of the electricity meter issue, which he claimed had compounded his difficulties. The farmer alleged that successive visits to Government offices had yielded little progress, compelling him to resort to the protest. He appealed to the district administration to examine his representations, ascertain the status of compensation and initiate appropriate corrective measures. The precise compensation amount claimed and the particulars of the electricity dispute were not immediately available. No official response was released by Raipur District Administration regarding the protest or the status of his grievances was available.
