An eighth-grade student was found hanging at her home in the Tikrapara police station area of Raipur, prompting police to launch an investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death. The family has raised concerns over an alleged reprimand at school, though no link between the incident and the student’s death has been established. The student, Akanksha Sen, was studying in Class VIII at Saraswati Shishu Vidya Mandir in Chhattisgarh Nagar. Her family has alleged that she was severely reprimanded at school and was distressed by the incident. The allegations are yet to be verified. Tikrapara Station House Officer Rajesh Singh said police had registered a case and were recording statements from family members. Investigators are examining the circumstances leading up to the student’s death, and further action will be taken based on the findings.

According to Indrani Dubey, Principal of Saraswati Shishu Vidya Mandir, the incident at school occurred on Friday, October 9. She said the student allegedly made an objectionable remark about a teacher after lunch, following which the teacher reprimanded her. The Principal said the student was counselled later that evening and asked to return to school with a guardian on Saturday. When the student’s mother arrived the next day, she was informed about the incident and subsequently took her daughter home. Police are examining the sequence of events and the versions of those involved to establish the circumstances of the death. The cause and any possible connection with the incident at school remain subject to investigation.
