Madhya Pradesh Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav, has approved an economic corridor connecting Jabalpur, Bhopal and Indore, covering seven districts, Indore, Bhopal, Jabalpur, Narsinghpur, Raisen, Sehore and Dewas. The project is expected to attract over Rs 1 lakh crore in private and institutional investment by March 2028, generating one lakh direct and more than two lakh indirect jobs. Full development over the next three years could take investment beyond Rs 3 lakh crore and create over six lakh direct and indirect employment opportunities.
The Cabinet approved a State-owned company to plan industrial clusters, develop internal infrastructure and attract investors. The Government will provide Rs 100 crore in equity and an additional interest-free loan of Rs 20 crore.
The company will not build highways or the main road network.
District-specific industrial hubs: Narsinghpur and Raisen will focus on food processing, warehousing and cold chains; Jabalpur on engineering, defence and aerospace manufacturing; Bhopal on IT, electronics and research; and Sehore and Dewas on manufacturing, food processing and logistics. Indore will be strengthened as a hub for advanced manufacturing and IT services.
First phase covers 10,000 acres: Three to five priority hubs will be developed across the seven districts in the first phase. Sites will be selected using the PM Gati Shakti portal to assess land suitability, water and power availability, connectivity, environmental impact and investor demand.
Industrial townships and ready infrastructure: Planned facilities include workers’ housing, hospitals, schools, skill centres, internal roads, reliable power, industrial water, waste treatment and digital connectivity. The government aims to reduce project set-up time and create employment closer to workers’ homes. The company will handle industrial land planning, zoning, plot allotment and long-term leasing under the applicable state investment-area and ease-of-doing-business laws. Government land will be made available at concessional rates, while forest land will remain subject to statutory and environmental requirements. The company is to be incorporated within 30 days, with land mapping targeted within six months, master plans within nine months and detailed project reports and statutory approvals within a year. Monthly executive reviews, quarterly Governing Council meetings and a digital dashboard will track investment, land development and job creation.
