Krishna Agrawal, a student from Raigarh, has brought recognition to Chhattisgarh by winning third prize at the 12th National Level Exhibition and Project Competition (NLEPC) 2026 for his innovative project,
‘Flip Electric Iron for Child Safety.’
Krishna received the award from Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science and Technology Dr Jitendra Singh. Chhattisgarh School Education Minister Gajendra Yadav congratulated him on the achievement.
Yadav said that students in Chhattisgarh possess immense talent, creativity and scientific aptitude.
He said Krishna’s innovation
demonstrated that students from the State could establish
a distinct identity at the national level in science and technology. Krishna’s project aims to prevent accidents involving children and hot electric irons. The model features an
automatic flipping mechanism that tilts the hot soleplate
upwards when the iron is released or left unattended, reducing the risk of accidental contact with the skin or surrounding surfaces. The device also incorporates an automatic power-cut feature that switches off the iron after 30
seconds of inactivity. Built-in safety locks are designed to
prevent children from accidentally switching on or tampering with the appliance.
