Municipal Commissioner Dr Vipin Itankar inspected the Nandgram cattle shed project at Mouza Wathoda and reviewed progress at the Masoli Bazar site. Dr Itankar was accompanied by Additional Municipal Commissioner Milind Meshram, Executive Engineers Alpana Patne and Rajendra Rathod, Solid Waste Management Head Dr Gajendra Mahalle, and Deputy Engineer Rajiv Gautam. Assessing the current status, Dr Itankar instructed officials to swiftly finish all pending works, including fire safety, power, water supply, and security, to make the project operational immediately. The Commissioner directed the contractor to prioritise completing the remaining five per cent of civil work and safeguard electrical equipment until formal handover. He emphasised coordinating with relevant departments to acquire the mandatory Fire No Objection Certificate (NOC) and assessing the feasibility of installing a CCTV surveillance network. Additionally, planning will be undertaken to reserve at least three cattle sheds to accommodate around 75 stray or abandoned animals. Focusing on eco-friendly management, Dr Itankar directed feasibility checks for using treated Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) water instead of drinking water for shed cleaning, alongside setting up a mini biogas plant for cattle dung. To meet the total 300 kW electrical demand, he requested a revised proposal to expand the planned 200 kW rooftop solar capacity. The Solid Waste Management Department was tasked with issuing an Expression of Interest (EOI) for facility operations.
