Man travelling from Delhi to Hyderabad intercepted near Patansaongi
Continuing its sustained crackdown on illicit drug trafficking, the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) seized 1.9 kg of amphetamine, worth around Rs 1.7 crore in the black market, from a passenger travelling on a bus from Delhi to Hyderabad.
The bus was intercepted
near Patansaongi, on the outskirts of Nagpur.
The DRI officials detained the passenger after finding the contraband in his luggage. The accused was carrying the drug for delivery in Bengaluru. Acting on specific intelligence, the DRI team intercepted the bus during its journey.
The officials checked the passenger and searched his luggage. They found a bag containing
1.9 kg of amphetamine.
The officials seized the contraband and took the accused into custody.
An offence was registered in connection with the seizure. The accused has been remanded
to DRI custody for further
investigation.
The DRI is now trying to trace the source of the drug and identify the people involved in the supply network. Investigators are also probing the intended recipient and the route used to transport the contraband.
The seizure is part of the DRI’s sustained crackdown on illicit drug trafficking. Officials are examining whether the accused was acting independently or
was part of a larger drug trafficking network.
