Garbage in it’s backyard JMC’s divisional offices 6 and 14 riddled with clealiness troubles
Staff Reporter
The Jabalpur Municipal Corporation runs cleanliness drives across the city and urges people to keep their surroundings clean. However, the poor condition of its divisional offices 6 and 14 raises questions about these efforts. Peeling plaster, exposed iron rods, discarded vehicles and heaps of garbage can be seen on the premises.
The condition of the two offices raises a basic question, if the Municipal Corporation cannot keep its own offices clean and organised, how will it ensure cleanliness across the city?
The plaster has come off the walls at several places, leaving iron rods exposed. Scrap dealers are allegedly seen entering the open spaces on the premises.
Dustbins installed under the Swachh Survekshan campaign have been left scattered. Several damaged vehicles are also parked in the compound, with garbage lying inside them.
The open spaces around
the offices are equally poorly maintained. Garbage can be seen scattered at several places. The waste not only makes the
surroundings look dirty but also causes inconvenience to people visiting the offices.
The situation is no better under the flyover outside the offices. The area has turned into a dumping spot for garbage and construction debris. The waste has affected the appearance of the area and raised concerns about the maintenance of public spaces. While the civic body conducts cleanliness drives across Jabalpur, the condition of its own offices presents a contrasting picture. The poor maintenance raises questions about the monitoring of sanitation work and the responsibility of officials concerned.
Last year, Jabalpur has secured fifth place in the Swachh Survekshan rankings. In this situation, maintaining cleanliness around civic body’s offices is equally important. Officials need to inspect the premises and ensure regular cleaning and proper disposal of waste.
