Hundreds of girls showcased traditional martial arts and self-defence skills during the concluding ceremony of the ‘Adishakti Self-Defence Weapons Training Camp’, organised by Charaiveti Foundation near Radisson Square, Wardha Road, on Sunday. Maya Ivnate, Rajya Sabha MP; Sanjay Bhende, MLC; Neeta Thakre, Mayor of Nagpur; Vishwas Nangre Patil, Nagpur Police Commissioner; Vinita Sahu, Additional Commissioner of Police; and Prarthana Behere, actor, attended the event. Shivani Dani-Wakhre, chairperson of the Nagpur Municipal Corporation Standing Committee and president of Charaiveti Foundation, was also present.

The participants performed disciplined lathi-kathi demonstrations along London Street in Somalwada, drawing applause from spectators lining both sides of the road. The programme also featured sword and shield demonstrations by trainees of Shivshakti Gurukulam Foundation–Shivshakti Akhada, alongside energetic dhol-tasha performances. The camp was conducted across more than 50 locations in Nagpur, including coaching classes, schools, colleges and women's groups, in association with trainer Vastad Hitesh Daff. Dani Wakhre said self-defence training was essential for empowering girls and building a safer society. Nangre Patil urged women and girls to consider applying for arms licences for self-protection. He also announced that a Nirbhaya squad would soon be introduced in Nagpur, with plainclothes women police personnel patrolling sensitive areas.
