Both were married; accused strangled woman after quarrel in Chandrapur

A 49-year-old teacher strangled his lover to death following a quarrel in Chandrapur and buried her body inside his vacant house in Adhar Nagari near Hingna. The accused, Santosh Bhagwan Sakharkar, a teacher from Chandrapur, later confessed to the crime after feeling guilty. The deceased, Vaishali Vilas Tiple (45), and Sakharkar were both married but were involved in an extramarital relationship. According to the police, Vaishali was pressuring him to live with her. This reportedly led to tension between them. She was also pressuring Santosh to cut off contact with other women, including his wife. On October 14, the two went to Pathanpura Gate in Chandrapur, where a quarrel broke out. During the argument, Sakharkar strangled Vaishali to death.

Instead of informing the police, he kept the body in the dickey of his car overnight. The following day, he drove to his vacant house in Adhar Nagari, Hingna, around 150 km. According to the police, Sakharkar had dug a pit in one of the rooms about a month earlier for the construction of a water tank. He used the pit to bury Vaishali’s body and covered it with floor tiles to conceal it. He then returned to Chandrapur. Meanwhile, Vaishali’s family did not approached Chandrapur police after she went missing. However, Santosh started feeling guilty of the crime. He approached the police and confessed to the murder and disclosed where he had buried the body.

A team led by Chandrapur Police Inspector Shyam Gavhane contacted Hingna police for assistance. Senior Police Inspector of Hingna Police Sation Pramod Ghonge and Sub-Inspector Santosh Rathod joined the operation. The body was exhumed at around 1.30 am on Saturday in the presence of Naib Tehsildar Nitin Gohane. The entire process was documented and videographed. The body was subsequently handed over to the Chandrapur police for further investigation. The incident has created a stir in Adhar Nagari, where residents were shocked to learn that a woman’s body had been buried inside a house in the locality.
