MORE than half of the city faced
a water shortage on Thursday
evening as water supply was disrupted in several areas.
Tens of thousands of
residents were
affected. Citizens
faced problems
in arranging
potable water as
well as water for
daily household
needs. Many residents had to
depend on stored
water or arrange water
from tankers and other sources.
The shortage also caused inconvenience to families that had not
stored enough water in advance.
The Jabalpur Municipal
Corporation administration said
tankers were deployed to supply
drinking water in the affected
areas. Water supply was affected after the electricity supply was
shut down for maintenance work
by the power distribution company.
The disruption affected the
120 MLD Ramanagara Water
Treatment Plant, which supplies
water to several parts of the city
during the evening.

water supply
was affected in
areas served by
several highlevel tanks
including Birla
D h a r a m s h a l a ,
Medical, Tripuri,
Gulaua, Wright Town,
Rameshwaram, Manmohan
Nagar, Lakshmipur, Kotwali,
Motinala, Anand Nagar, Lema
Garden, Sarvodaya Nagar, Madar
Teresa, Bedinagar, Milk Scheme,
Kilkari Garden and New
Shobhapur.
Likewise overheads under the
Amrit scheme in Kongwa,
Karmeta, Shivnagar, Amkhera,
Ravindra Nagar, Suhagi,
Khairi and Deotal were also
affected. Shirivastava
informed that normal water
supply would be resumed
from Friday morning. He said
tanker supply was arranged
in the affected areas. Water
supply would be restored
smoothly and more effectively after completion of the
maintenance work.
