A stand-off has emerged at Jai Prakash District (JP) Hospital, Bhopal, between the hospital administration and a small group of Family Medicine doctors. Only 3 to 4 doctors, not the entire Family Medicine Department, have alleged that their salaries have been pending for the last three months. They have also accused the administration of ignoring seniority and fairness in duty allocation, claiming the situation has led to financial hardship and mental distress. Seeking immediate redressal, the group has threatened to go on a hunger strike. Hospital Superintendent Dr Sanjay Jain has strongly refuted the allegations.

Reacting to the protest, Dr Jain said that the doctors in question had gone on leave without prior intimation, this led to strict actions being withheld as per the rules. He termed the hunger strike threat a direct violation of government service conduct rules and said the doctors should have approached senior officials through proper channels instead of resorting to protest. The administration maintains that hospital services remain unaffected as the protest involves only a handful of doctors, while the agitating doctors insist that without timely intervention, they will be forced to proceed with the hunger strike.
