With just a day left for polling in the Nagpur Division Graduates’ Constituency election, the Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar) has expelled Nitesh Karale, popularly known as Karale Guruji, from the party for six years for alleged indiscipline and rebellion against the official candidate of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA).
Karale, who entered the fray against the MVA’s official candidate, Abhijeet Wanjari, had reportedly claimed that he enjoyed the support of NCP (SP) chief Sharad Pawar.
The party took serious note of his decision to remain in the fray despite being denied its official nomination.
The NCP (SP) is part of the MVA, and supporting the alliance’s official candidate and working for his victory is the responsibility of every party member.
Karale’s rebellion was against the party’s discipline and principles, prompting the leadership to take disciplinary action, said Ravindra Pawar, the party’s State General Secretary, in a letter announcing the decision.
