Eight buses parked at the Inter-State Bus Terminal (ISBT) in Bhopal caught fire on Sunday evening, leaving five completely gutted and three partially damaged. No passengers were present in the buses at the time of the incident, and no casualties were reported. Eyewitnesses reported hearing explosions from the burning buses, triggering panic at the terminal. To prevent the fire from spreading to other vehicles, ISBT management immediately moved nearby buses to safety. More than 50 buses were present at the terminal at the time of the incident. Eyewitnesses also said some oil tankers were parked near the site and were promptly moved away.
Firefighting Operation Lasts An Hour: According to BMC fire officer Pankaj Kumar,
six fire tenders and 10–12 firefighting teams were deployed to control the blaze. Firefighters battled the flames for nearly an hour before bringing the fire under control.
Police To Examine CCTV Footage: Govindpura ACP Aditi Bhavsar said the fire had been brought under control and no lives were lost. Police will examine CCTV footage from cameras installed at the terminal to establish the cause of the fire, which remains unclear. Bhavsar said investigators would also consider the possibility of a conspiracy as part of the probe.
Haphazard Parking Hampers Fire Tender Movement: Vehicles are frequently parked indiscriminately along the roads leading to the ISBT, with drivers often leaving them unattended. The obstruction posed by these vehicles created additional difficulties for fire tenders trying to reach the spot and tackle the blaze.
