In a major push for authentic Ayurvedic healthcare, Madhya Pradesh is set to get its first Government Ayurvedic pharmacy this year.
The State-of-the-art pharmacy is being built inside the Pt Khushilal Sharma Government (Autonomous) Ayurveda College and Institute campus on Kaliasot Hill, Nehru Nagar – Kolar Road. Construction has entered its final phase.
Spread across the institute’s sprawling 50-acre campus, the facility will be fully modern and self-reliant. It will house integrated units for raw herb
processing, advanced quality testing, scientific storage and medicine manufacturing.
Officials said every stage - from raw herbs to finished medicine - will undergo rigorous quality checks to ensure patients receive pure, safe and effective drugs.
The move will cut dependence on private suppliers and reduce costs for the college’s 200-bed hospital.
Established in 1995, Pt Khushilal Sharma College is the State’s premier Government Ayurveda institute, affiliated to MPMSU, Jabalpur and recognised by NCISM. The project aligns with the State’s wider AYUSH push. The MP Government has recently approved Rs 490 crore for eight new Ayurveda colleges under the National AYUSH Mission. Once operational, the pharmacy will also serve as a training hub for Diploma in Ayurvedic Pharmacy students.
