appointed Chhattisgarh
Bharatiya Janata Party in-charge
Smriti Irani arrived in the capital on
Sunday for her maiden official visit since assuming organisational
charge of the State.
Upon her arrival at the Raipur
airport, she was received by a delegation of senior party functionaries and elected representatives,
including MP Brijmohan Agrawal,
Rajya Sabha MP Lakshmi Verma,
MLA Rajesh Munat, and Raipur
Mayor Meenal Choubey.
Following her arrival, she proceeded to the BJP State
Headquarters, where Chief Minister
Vishnu Deo Sai welcomed and met
with her to discuss party activities.
The two-day visit has generated significant enthusiasm among local
party workers and cadres.Adhering to organisational directives advising against promotional hoardings and banners, party flags were deployed
across key thoroughfares in the capital instead. Additionally,
a bike rally planned by the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha
was called off late Saturday evening.
Addressing reporters at the airport, MP Brijmohan Agrawal
welcomed the State in-charge, stating that her leadership
and extensive organisational experience would further
strengthen party operations in Chhattisgarh. Regarding the
absence of welcoming hoardings, Agrawal remarked that
such displays are typically organised by leaders preparing
for electoral contests, whereas seasoned organisation leaders prioritize strengthening grassroots structures without
unnecessary competition. Rajya Sabha MP Lakshmi Verma
added that the scheduled series of organisational meetings will bolster cadre engagement across the State.
