The two-day 23rd Narmada Mahotsav concluded on a grand note amidst the breathtaking, moonlit marble rocks of Bhedaghat. Coinciding with Sharad Poornima, the closing evening presented a mesmerising confluence of classical dance, spiritual devotion and traditional music, drawing thousands of art enthusiasts and tourists to the banks of the Narmada. The second day began with traditional Narmada pujan, followed by a serene Kathak Shiv Stuti performed by Kautuki Upadhyay of Tribhang Kala Academy. The energy escalated rapidly with a power-packed Dhol-Tasha performance by artists from Maharashtra’s Shivmudra institute.

The highlight of the evening was the musical performance by Indian Idol star Arunita Kanjilal, who enthralled the audience with spiritual renditions like Aigiri Nandini, Ram Siya Ram and classical thumris, culminating in Satyam Shivam Sundaram. Renowned Bollywood playback singer Richa Sharma delivered the grand finale, captivating the crowd with popular hits such as Mahi Ve and Zindagi Mein Kabhi Koyi Aaye Na Rabba. A spectacular fireworks display over the marble canyon further heightened the festive spirit. Public Works Minister Rakesh Singh virtually addressed the event, describing the festival as a symbol of cultural and spiritual heritage.

He reiterated the government’s commitment to promoting tourism while preserving the region’s natural beauty. Chief Guest and Rajya Sabha MP Sumitra Valmiki emphasised the spiritual significance of Sharad Poornima and urged devotees to respect local religious traditions. She also praised the ongoing developmental efforts in Jabalpur. Presiding over the function, MLA Neeraj Singh noted that the festival, initiated in 2004, has become a major platform for national and local artists. He highlighted several upcoming local infrastructure and tourism projects, including a Rs. 87 crore Geological Park and a Rs. 15 crore Science Centre at Bhedaghat. The ceremony saw the presence of key political leaders, including Mayor Jagat Bahadur Singh Annu and JDA Chairman Sandeep Jain, marking a memorable end to the cultural extravaganza.
