Khursipar police have seized unaccounted cash amounting to Rs 4 crore from a modified Bolero Max pickup van allegedly carrying the money from Raipur towards Nagpur. The cash was found concealed in a specially constructed hidden chamber in the rear portion of the vehicle during a checking operation near Dabripara under Khursipar police station in Bhilai late on Sunday night. Police sources informed that acting on specific information regarding the suspicious transportation of a large amount of cash, a police team intercepted the white Bolero Max pickup bearing registration number CG 04 QU 5996 at around 11 pm during vehicle checking.

 

Two persons were travelling in the vehicle. They were identified as Bhaveshbhai Jinabhai Dabhi, the driver, and Vishnudev Dubey. During a detailed search, police found that the rear portion of the pickup had been modified and completely enclosed. On inspecting the modified section, the police detected a specially designed hidden chamber. A substantial quantity of Indian currency was found concealed inside it. The total cash recovered from the secret chamber was counted at Rs 4 crore. Police have taken both persons into custody for questioning and are trying to ascertain the source and ownership of the cash, besides the purpose for which the money was allegedly being transported.
