Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai on Wednesday took a swipe at the Congress over the results of Legislative Council elections in four states, saying that the party, which has repeatedly demanded elections through ballot papers, had failed to win even a single seat in elections conducted using ballot papers.
Sai said the Congress failed to win any of the 28 Legislative Council seats contested in Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Bihar and Karnataka. He particularly pointed out
that the party could not secure a single seat in Karnataka, despite being in power in the State.
Questioning the Congress’s repeated attempts to challenge the electoral process following its defeats, the Chief Minister asked whom the party would blame for its latest setback.
Sai said the Congress should introspect rather than blame the electoral process for its electoral failures. Whether elections are conducted through Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) or ballot papers, he said, victory depends on public trust rather than allegations and political noise.
