Mana Basti ponds to be developed

The ponds in Mana Basti village of Dharsiwa development block will be developed as bird sanctuaries to provide a safe and natural habitat for migratory and local birds. The initiative aims to conserve the region’s biodiversity, promote environmental awareness and protect the natural ecosystem. The proposal emerged during an inspection of Gram Panchayat Mana Basti by Dharsiwa Janpad Panchayat CEO Ashish Kesharwani, conducted in accordance with the directives of Collector Gaurav Singh and Zila Panchayat CEO Kumar Bishwaranjan.

During the visit, Kesharwani inspected government schools, the Panchayat building and village ponds and reviewed the progress of various rural development works. During the school inspection, Kesharwani expressed dissatisfaction over the slow progress of construction of a girls’ toilet and directed the concerned staff to expedite the work and complete it within the stipulated timeframe without compromising on quality. He also appreciated the Poshan Vatika, or nutritional garden, developed on the school premises. Inspecting the village ponds, Kesharwani took note of the arrival of migratory birds and instructed the Panchayat to prepare a comprehensive action plan for developing the water bodies into bird sanctuaries. The Janpad Panchayat

CEO also reviewed the Panchayat’s income and revenue collection system. He directed officials to ensure 100 per cent collection of prescribed Panchayat taxes through the Samarth portal. He noted that strengthening the Panchayat’s own-source revenue would help accelerate development works and improve basic amenities, including sanitation, drinking water facilities and other essential services in the village. Officials were instructed to regularly review tax collection and intensify efforts to achieve the prescribed target. Tax Assessment Officer Gajesh Yadu, Mana Basti Sarpanch Sunita Lekhu Baish, Panchayat Secretary Lata Sen, the employment assistant, other officials and public representatives were present during the inspection.
