“Madhya Pradesh aims to generate around 20 lakh jobs by 2047 through urban expansion, new townships and infrastructure investment,” said Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav at the Urban Growth Conclave 2.0 on Wednesday. The State plans to develop Indore, Ujjain and Bhopal as metropolitan centres, build 12–15 townships and undertake planned development across 25,000–30,000 acres. The Indore Economic Region 2047 plan, prepared under NITI Aayog’s initiative, covers eight districts and aims to expand the regional economy from $37.4 billion to $500–600 billion by 2047. It targets more than 12 lakh jobs and over $100 billion in private investment.

Dr Yadav released draft policies on affordable urban housing and treated wastewater reuse for public consultation. The State aims to reuse 50% of treated wastewater by 2037. Draft land development and building rules were also presented to streamline approvals and support planned urban growth. Financial agreements worth Rs 2,013.81 crore were announced for three projects: Rs 643.39 crore for Ujjain’s temple circuit, Rs 1,320.42 crore for Indore water supply and sewerage, and Rs 50 crore for Rewa’s water supply scheme. The conclave also featured discussions on renewable energy, waste management and private investment in urban infrastructure. Indore Future City is planned across about 5,000 acres for residential, industrial and employment-oriented development. Other proposals showcased at the conclave included a 200 MW floating solar project with battery storage at Birsinghpur, estimated to cost Rs1,564 crore, and a proposed Rs 2,250-crore Della Racecourse project in Bhopal. These projects remain proposals.
