Staff Reporter :
INVESTIGATING the accidental death case of a woman in
Nunsar village, police have disclosed the incident a planned
murder by her husband for
claiming her life insurance.
Police have arrested three men
in connection with the killing
while the woman’s husband and
another suspect are still at large.
The deceased, identified as
Kavita Chaudhary, was run over
by a pickup vehicle in a plot
designed to make the murder
look like a road accident under
the jurisdiction of Patan police
station, on September 4. Police
said her husband, Prayas
Pandey, masterminded the conspiracy and paid the accused
Rs 1 lakh in advance to kill her.
According to police, the incident was reported at Nunser
police outpost on September 4.
Police reached the spot and
found the woman dead. After
identifying her, the body was
sent to Patan health centre for
Contd post-mortem examination.
Kavita’s husband later reached
the spot and told police that
she worked as an LIC agent
and had left home for some
work. He said he worked as a
notary in Patan and lived in a
rented house in Aamahinouta
village. The couple had love
marriage around two years ago.
SDOP Ashutosh Dwivedi
informed that investigating the
case, police found that Pandey
befriended Vikram Ahirwar,
Kariya alias Dhaniram and
Ramji Chaudhary, residents of
Patan’s Chaudhary Mohalla
and involved them in the conspiracy. Police suspect that the
motive was to gain access to
insurance money in Kavita’s
name after her death. Pandey’s
friend Mansingh, who knew
the three accused, introduced
them to him. According to
investigators, Kavita was travelling towards Jabalpur on her
Activa when the accused hit
her with the pickup vehicle.
They then deliberately ran the
vehicle over her head to ensure
her death before escaping from
the spot.
Police have arrested the three
contract killers and are conducting raids to trace Prayas
Pandey and Mansingh who are
still absconding.
