POLICE in Bhopal will deploy personnel attached to the police lines and various offices for night patrols to curb crimes during late hours. The additional force will patrol all 38 police station areas from midnight to 5 am. The deployment will include constables, head constables, sub-inspectors, inspectors and ACPs. Police Commissioner Sanjay Kumar said that a duty chart is being prepared based on the city’s four zones. Police personnel attached to the police lines and offices will be assigned specific police station areas and timings. The deployment will also be used for combing operations and raids when required. Sensitive areas to get extra teams: Police are identifying areas that have reported higher incidents of theft, robbery, knife attacks and other crimes over the past six months. Two patrol teams will be deployed in particularly sensitive areas, depending on the requirement. Security to increase around pandals: The night patrol system is being strengthened ahead of Navratri.

Additional police personnel will be deployed around Garba venues and Durga Puja pandals, while crowded areas will remain under surveillance. Dial-112 and bike FRV teams will increase patrols on isolated and poorly lit roads. Women cops to patrol hotspots: Police have identified women-safety hotspots in every police station area. Women personnel from constable to inspector rank will be part of special patrol teams around markets, fairs, festivals and GarbaDandiya venues. The teams will patrol on motorcycles and other vehicles and respond to complaints of harassment, indecent behaviour, stalking and threats. Police Commissioner Sanjay Kumar said that the presence of additional personnel at night would increase police visibility in sensitive areas. Teams will respond to suspicious activity and conduct immediate action or raids when required. The new arrangement will be implemented before Navratri.
