CHIEF Minister Mohan Yadav
marked Mahatma Gandhi’s 157th
birth anniversary by visiting the
Khadi Gramodyog Bhavan at
Jawahar Chowk, where he paid
tribute to Gandhi, spun the
charkha and purchased Khadi
products. Yadav inspected the
process of Khadi production,
marketing and sales and interacted with shoppers at the outlet. He urged people to embrace
Khadi and indigenous products,
calling for a stronger ‘Vocal for
Local’ approach.
On Gandhi Jayanti, Khadi
products were being offered at a
20 per cent discount. Yadav made
his purchase and paid digitally
through UPI.
In the visitors’ book, the Chief
Minister recalled Gandhi’s promotion of Khadi and self-reliance
during the freedom struggle and
called for renewed public participation in the use of Khadi.
Speaking to the mediapersons,
Yadav said that Gandhi had made
swadeshi a guiding principle and
used Khadi to connect people
with the freedom movement. He
said promoting Khadi and village
industries also benefits cotton
farmers and supports the
domestic economy. During his
visit, Yadav interacted with
Vijaylakshmi Yadav, a student
who told him that she had
cleared her BSc-BEd examination results announced that
day. He congratulated her and
presented her with his pen as
