MUMBAI :
THE Maharashtra Government has
approved the release of Rs 4,000 crore
for the Punyashlok Ahilyadevi
Holkar Farmers’ Loan Waiver
Scheme, 2026.
The decision will allow the
transfer of financial benefits under the
scheme into the bank accounts of eligible borrowers.
The decision was announced
through a Government Resolution (GR)
issued by the Cooperation Department.
The GR stated that Rs 6,551 crore were
available under the relevant budget
head for the scheme, out of which the
government had approved the release
of Rs 4,000 crore.
The scheme was approved by the
state Cabinet on June 2, 2026.
For financial year 2026-27, the government had approved a total provision of Rs 20,552 crore for the scheme
through supplementary demands for
grants. Of this amount, Rs 14,001 crore
were made available to the
Commissioner and Registrar of
Cooperative Societies through earlier
government resolutions.
The latest allocation followed a proposal submitted by the Commissioner
and Registrar of Cooperative Societies
on October 21, seeking Rs 4,000 crore
to transfer benefits to eligible loan
accounts.
