A 21-year-old man died after consuming poison following a confrontation with his girlfriend’s family over their relationship. MIDC police have registered a case against six members of the woman’s family following a complaint by the youth’s mother.
The deceased, Vishal Vilas Jawade, was in a relationship with a 20-year-old woman for four years. The couple wanted to marry, but the woman’s family opposed their relationship because they belonged to different communities, according to the police.

He was taken to Shalinitai Meghe Hospital but died during treatment.
The police initially registered a case of accidental death. Following a complaint by Sangita Vilas Jawade, the MIDC police registered a case against six people. Further investigation is underway.
