As a part of the ‘Save Democracy, Remove Anarchy’ campaign being conducted nationwide by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), a public meeting was held on Friday on the premises of the Shri Radha-Krishna Temple in Mahesh Colony, Durg city. A large number of citizens, alongside BJP workers, attended the event. Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare, JP Nadda, was present as the Chief guest. In his address, he launched a scathing attack on the Congress and its allies, alleging that the opposition is attempting to tarnish the nation’s democratic system by leveling baseless accusations against constitutional institutions. Union Minister Nadda stated that India is the ‘mother of democracy’ and the world’s largest democratic nation. While India’s electoral process is admired globally, the Congress is actively working to damage the image of democracy by questioning constitutional bodies, including the Election Commission and the Supreme Court. Regarding the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, he mentioned that this process has been conducted 12 times in the country 10 times during Congress administrations and twice under the BJP’s tenure.

This process is still ongoing. He claimed that approximately 130 million (13 crore) names have been removed from the electoral rolls to ensure they are organised and transparent. The public meeting was also addressed by Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, Cabinet Minister Gajendra Yadav, Durg MP Vijay Baghel, and MLA Rikesh Sen. The event was attended by several public representatives and senior party leaders, including Cabinet Ministers Kedar Kashyap and Gajendra Yadav, MP Vijay Baghel, Durg Division In-charge and State Vice-President Jagannath Panigrahi, District Organisation In-charge Nandan Jain and many others. Following the public meeting, a large-scale foot march (padyatra) was organised, proceeding from the premises of the Shri Radha-Krishna Temple in Mahesh Colony to Ganjpara Chowk. The march served to raise public awareness and counter the confusion allegedly spread by the Opposition regarding the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls. The BJP states that the objective of this campaign is to strengthen public trust in democratic and constitutional processes and to provide a fact-based response to the Opposition’s misinformation.
