In a major festive-season relief for lakhs of Government employees, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav on Thursday announced a 2 per cent hike in Dearness Allowance (DA) for State Government employees and officers.
The announcement, made by the Chief Minister, will be effective from January 2026, bringing relief amid rising living costs.
The decision will benefit lakhs of serving employees and officers across departments, including education, health, police and revenue.
Employees will not receive the nine-month backlog in
one go.
The arrears for January to September 2026 will be
paid in three equal monthly instalments, a move designed to manage the fiscal impact on the State exchequer.
The enhanced DA will be
paid in cash for the first time with the October salary, which will be credited in November. From then on, the increased amount will be reflected in the monthly pay.
In a parallel move, the Government has also increased
Dearness Relief (DR) for pensioners by 2 per cent. This relief, however, will be effective from July 2026, not January.
“The Government stands firmly with its employees and pensioners," Chief Minister
Dr Mohan Yadav said, underlining that their welfare remains a top priority.
The move follows the Centre’s 3 per cent DA hike on October 28, raising Central DA to 63 per cent. A formal Finance Department order detailing exact rates is expected soon.
Employee unions have welcomed the move, calling it timely relief, though they continue to demand faster payment of the full arrears.
