PCC work of supercritical unit of ATPS, Chachai turbine site commences

CONSTRUCTION of the 1×660 MW new supercritical unit at Amarkantak Thermal Power Station (ATPS), Chachai, has entered another important phase with the commencement of Plain Cement Concrete (PCC) work at the turbine site. Senior officials of Madhya Pradesh Power Generating Company Limited (MPPGCL) and Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) were present at the commencement of the work. The PCC work is considered a significant milestone in the construction sequence of the project, as it will provide the required base for subsequent civil and turbine-related works. Executive Director of power station, Tanvir Ahmad, along with senior officials of the company, was present on the occasion. Additional Chief Engineers Rajiv Gupta and Vijay Dev, Superintending Engineer (Civil) and other officials attended the programme. From BHEL, Project Manager Vijay Kumar, DGM Rajesh Kumar and other officials associated with the project were present.
 
The 660-MW supercritical unit is an important project aimed at expanding the power generation capacity of the Amarkantak Thermal Power Station. With PCC work now underway at the turbine site, the groundwork for further civil construction and installation-related activities has been established. Officials said that the construction work is progressing in accordance with prescribed technical procedures and standards. The commencement of PCC work marks an important addition to the project's construction schedule and is expected to facilitate the progress of subsequent activities related to the turbine and other major structures. During the programme, officials inspected the ongoing works and reviewed various construction activities at the site. The presence of officials from both MPPGCL and BHEL also highlighted the coordination between the two organisations in executing the project. The start of PCC work at the turbine site is being viewed as a key milestone in the construction of the 660-MW unit, with subsequent turbine and other major structural works expected to progress on this foundation.
