The Crime Branch has arrested Deepak Krishna Athpale alias Patil, an accomplice of Sumedh Gajbhiye, from Beed district in connection with the New Manish Nagar incident. Patil was arrested on Monday from Mategaon in Georai taluka of Beed district. Police said he had fled towards Beed after the incident.
Gajbhiye, a suspected thief, died last Tuesday after he was allegedly beaten by residents in New Manish Nagar under the Beltarodi Police jurisdiction.
According to police, Gajbhiye had named Patil during questioning before his death. The duo had allegedly gone to Manish Nagar to plan a burglary.
Patil, originally from Beed, is pursuing a BCA course at Raisoni College in Nagpur. He was also working as a private car driver. He reportedly came in contact with Gajbhiye through his driving job. Police said Gajbhiye had lured Patil with the promise of money for working with him. Patil allegedly accompanied him on the day of the incident.

he duo and caught them on suspicion.
Patil managed to escape from the spot, while Gajbhiye was caught and allegedly beaten. After Gajbhiye's death, the police began searching for Patil. Investigators obtained Gajbhiye’s mobile number from his brother and examined his call records. The probe led police to Patil’s mobile number. His phone location was traced to Beltarodi on the day of the incident and later towards Beed. Acting on the technical inputs, a Crime Branch team reached Mategaon and arrested Patil. The arrest was made under the guidance of DCP Detection Deepak Aggrawal and ACP Crime Vaibhav Jadhav.
