NAGPUR shuttlers Nehal Gosavi and Ajinkya Patharkar delivered impressive performances at the Shri Chh Shivajiraje Bhosale Memorial and Shri Nandu Natekar Memorial Senior State Inter-District Badminton Team Championship &SeniorState Badminton Championship 2026, organised by theSatara District Badminton Association under the aegis of the Maharashtra Badminton Association at Chh Shahu Stadium, Satara. Both Nagpur players reached the finals oftheir respective doubles events and finished as runner-up, securing silver medals in the State championship. The top-seeded pair of Nehal andAnagha Karandikar of Thane produced adominantrun to the final. In thepre-quarterfinal, they defeated Pune’s Lavanya Nalawade andPrajaktaGaikwad 15-7, 15-0. In the quarters,they beat Pranjal Andhare(Greater Mumbai) and Rutika Kamble(Kolhapur) 15-8, 15-10.
 
In thesemi-final, Gosavi and Karandikar defeated the 4thseeded Pune pair of Ananya Gadgil and Sanika Patankar 15-12, 15-6. In aclosely fought championship match, the top seeds went down to the 2nd seeded pair of Rhucha Sawant (Pune) and SiyaSingh (Thane) 8-15, 15-5, 11-15. Ajinkya and IanLopes of Palghar began their campaignwith astraight-games victoryover Pune’s Avadhut Kadam andOjas Joshi, winning 15-12, 15-13in the first round. In the pre-quarter final, they defeated Thane’s Mohit Kamble and Yashovardhan Singh Kandari 15-10, 15-10. In quarter-final, they defeated Abhay Kisarwar (Satara) andVivek Chandravamshi (Pune)15- 4, 15-10. In an exciting semifinal, Patharkar and Lopes pipped 3rdseeds Aman Sanjay(Thane) and Sankalp Chandragurala (Chandrapur) 9- 15, 15-11, 15-13. In the final, the Nagpur–Palghar combination fought against the 2nd seeded Thane pair of Arjun Birajdar and Aryan Birajdar going down17-19, 11-15.
