IN A tragic incident, a 62-yearold man was killed in a tiger
attack while grazing cattle
in Pindrai forest area of Kurai
in the Seoni district on
Monday afternoon.
The incident took place
around 12 noon in the forest
area adjoining Pindrai beat. The
deceased was identified as
Summar Lal (62), a resident of
Rampuri under Siwankanhr
Gram Panchayat.
According to preliminary
information, Summar Lal
entered in Pindrai beat area to
graze his cattle. While he was
in the forest a tiger suddenly
attacked him. The animal
dragged him deeper into the
forest, leaving him with no
opportunity to escape.
When local people reached
the spot after the incident, they
found Summar Lal lying dead
with severe injuries.
Following the incident, panic spread among villagers living near the forest. A team of
the Forest Department and personnel from Kurai police station reached the spot and
inspected the area. Forest officials collected evidence related to the incident and are monitoring the surrounding area to
establish the tiger’s presence
and movement.
Officials are also taking steps
to assess the circumstances of
the attack and prevent further
incidents in the adjoining areas.
Forest Department has initiated the process to provide Rs
8 lakh in financial assistance to
the deceased’s family under the
provisions prescribed by the
State Government while necessary departmental formalities
are being completed.
