A DOCTORallegedly opened fire
on his 28-year-old former girlfriend and her cousin in Gandhi
Nagar on Tuesday night using a
.32-bore pistol. The woman doctor escaped after a bullet grazed
her head, while her cousin suffered injuries to the abdomen
and chest. Police recovered the
pistol from the spot.
Couple had disputed relationship: Police identified the
accused as Naveen Rohilla, a resident of Rajgarh. He and the
woman doctor, Shweta Thakur,
had been in a relationship for several years but had been facing
disputes for around two months.
Shweta had recently got engaged
elsewhere, while Rohilla allegedly wanted to marry her.
Argument escalates inside
flat:Rohilla went to Shweta’s flat
at Patanjali Complex on Tuesday
night to meet her. The two initially spoke on the staircase
before an argument broke out
after they entered the house.
Rohilla allegedly pulled out the
pistol and fired at Shweta and
her cousin Ashutosh Thakur.
Accused attempts suicide later: After the shooting, Rohilla
returned to his room and allegedly attempted suicide by hanging
himself. His friends rescued him
and admitted him to a hospital.
Police said that his statement
will be recorded after his condition improves.

room in which he allegedly
mentioned being betrayed in
the relationship and cited it
as the reason for his suicidal

said that the bullet grazed the
woman doctor’s head,
while her cousin sustained
injuries to his abdomen and
chest. Gandhi Nagar police
registered an attempt-to-murder case on Shweta’s
complaint and are recording
statements of witnesses who
saw Rohilla heading towards
her residence before the
shooting.
