A TIGRESS undergoing treatment at Wildlife Treatment
Centre in Mukki range of Kanha
Tiger Reserve died on Tuesday.
According to Kanha Tiger
Reserve administration, the
tigress was found alone and in
an extremely weak physical
condition by a patrolling team
in the forest on August 26. In
an effort to improve her health
and save her life, continuous
treatment was started from
August 27 under the supervision of wildlife veterinary
experts. Despite treatment, the
tigress died on October 6.
In accordance with the
Standard Operating Procedure
(SOP) of National Tiger
Conservation Authority
(NTCA), a post-mortem examination of the carcass was conducted on October 7.
The examination was jointly carried out
by the Wildlife Veterinary Officer
of Kanha Tiger Reserve and a
veterinary doctor from Baihar.
Following the post-mortem, the
carcass was cremated as per
the prescribed procedure.

representatives and departmental officers and staff were
present during the postmortem and cremation.
During the examination,
necessary tissue samples,
organs and other biological
material were collected and
sent to a laboratory in Jabalpur
for forensic and pathological
analysis. The exact cause
of death will be ascertained
after the examination reports
are received.
